There are many misconceptions when it comes to Yoruba Mythology and Voudun (or voodoo as people sometimes call it). As I come from these 10,000-year-old traditions, I have grown up witnessing the fear factors and untruths associated with rituals around fire, ceremonial painting of faces, snakes, chanting, dancing, rattles, and drumming. I would love the world to know a different perspective through the love of my culture and its traditions and rituals and see how harmonised voudun is.
Voudun is one of the oldest practices known to the world and its stories have been passed down for centuries.
Through Pataki (the stories and parables of Ifa Yoruba) I hope to be able to demystify some of these myths for you and abridge a closer understanding of how beautiful Yoruba, Voudun and the reality of its relationships with All Our Earth Relations can be.
Giving thanks to all my teachers and supporters of my practice of of Yoruba, the Orishas that keep me safe and well and my Ancestors for the Iburu (my strong voice) within that has been given opportunity in this lifetime to share old teachings. Ashe.
