Cacao

aina (language: hawaiian)

Signifies the land and the sea.
She who feeds us.

Cuatro Manos Y Cinco Volcanes invites the rare and beautiful medicine of Hawaiian Cacao to meet us in ceremony with Mixch.

If you have not experienced chocolate in its rawest form, it is a beautiful way to allow your senses to guide you to a place of learning.

In this ceremonial space we give thanks to cacao as she takes us into a safe and heart opening journey each month where we each are reminded of the relationships, we hold not only with ourselves, but with all that sits around us.

(from the teachings of PathofIX and the relationships with the land)

This is my best friend cacao.

Why do I choose her?
Because I know the strength
of her story.
I hear her roots negotiating
as she comes to life
a little more everyday.
Growing in the harsh volcanic soils
that create her resilience.

Why do I walk with her?
Because every day she meets my lips
is a day for me to remember
what she has endured to
come into this world
teaching me lessons
that I can also endure
I can also be a warrior
who can lead with compassion
and love in my heart.

Why do I need a friend like
Hawaiian ceremonial cacao?
Because this lifetime needs me
to make good choices
to align with the things
that feed me and nurture me
and to live in a way
that doesn’t take shortcuts
that appreciates
that honours all the steps
to arrival.

Cacao has shown me her richness.
That through hard work
and slow and steady ways
of creation and intention
I can be fruitful in my life
and sit amongst the abundance
of all that wishes
to grow with me every day.
I have been blessed to be so close
and see her with my own eyes
to see her transformation
to understand firsthand what is
poured into her
as she is created

But I know…
I don’t have to physically live
on her land to be with her.
For each day I walk a little more with her
I am becoming the land
and she lives in me.

Cacao Facts

Hawaiian Cacao - made with intention & Purpose

All our cacao is tempered from cacao paste.
Cacao paste is made from the whole cacao bean. Compared to cacao powder, which has been defatted, cacao paste is typically 50% cacao butter.

Ceremonial Cacao is made with cacao paste because cacao butter is the best carrier for the beneficial compounds in cacao. This means that our bodies are able to absorb more of the nutrients. Cacao paste is made from high quality cacao beans that have been fermented, dried, lightly roasted, cracked and winnowed, ground, conched, and tempered.

Always with Respect & Love

All our cacao is made for ceremony in a sustainable and prayerful way.
This cacao is also rare and unique as no child labour is used (like in Africa and South and Central America). Harvest workers are paid USA living wages.
All sustainably made, single origin, fewer plantings, hand harvested, hand winnowed - tree to disc.

What does 4 Manos Y Cinco Volcanes Mean?

4 manos (4 hands), cinco volcanes (5 volcanoes).
It takes manay hands to farm, care, create and distribute. By honouring this we are also honouring the four directions of the island, of the world, and all the people who make this work.

Why Hawaiian Cacao?

In ceremony, we use only Hawaiian Cacao. Why?
Because Hawaiian Cacao is the rarest and costliest Cacao in the world. This is because it holds such abundance. Grown in volcanic soils on the mountain of Mauna Kea (the most sacred mountain in Hawaii), on the Hamakua Coast, known as ‘breath of god’, this cacao is rich in volcanic energy; the lifeblood of mother earth, creating powerful energy manifestation.

Why would I go to a Cacao Ceremony?

Cacao ceremony is a sacred ceremony, using ancient medicine. Sitting in ceremony with Cacao is about honouring things deeply and allowing all parts of yourself to show up. Cacao is a spiritual tool to help you discover yourself and reveal yourself. She supports you to connect on a deeper level by building wisdom in the heart and offering safety, protection and strength. In ceremony & classes, Hawaiian Cacao is our teacher.
Cacao has been used for thousands of years by the Aztecs, Mayans and Olmecs as a food for the gods in rituals, royal feats and is so valuable and rare that it was also used as currency and was worth more than gold; showing us new ways to look at the richness and abundance that we hold in our lives.
