LWA

Paying Forward in Reciprocity

Sankofa (language: Akan, Ghana)

Expressed as: “so wo were fi na wosan kofa a yenki”.

Translation: “it is not taboo to go back and fetch what you forgot”.

What is Lwa?

In Voudun (known to many as voodoo) there is a spirit called the "Lwa".

Lwa (pronounced "lwah") spirit, is the energy that sits deep inside ourselves. Lwa circle is all about remembering your spirit through your Iburu (strong voice), liberating your true story, and enabling yourself to live from a place of freedom and choice. It is a circle where we listen to each other, sit in relationship with all things around us and share in reciprocity.

HOW IS LWA DIFFERENT TO WOMEN’S CIRCLES?

Lwa invites everyone. My traditions of Yoruba and voudun have taught me that gender is not the leader.

Freewill & choice leads. Worthiness leads. Self-love & acceptance leads. This allows our sameness and our differences within to create our oneness. Lwa circle is a community circle. It calls forward those who can afford, and asks us to be generous with each other, and help those who do not have the means.

Sometimes it takes a village.

Lwa reminds us of our village & community spirit. Lwa will invite you to more sound and medicine tools, and relationships, and old wisdom that supports your own stories and mythology and gives you opportunity to know yourself better.

WHERE CAN I JOIN LWA & WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

The best way to come is with no expectation at all. As my teacher says often "leave your wisdom at the door".

Slowly in the 2024-year Lwa will make its way to you in the North, North West, North East, and South of Tasmania. There will also be Lwa community circles online available. Dates soon to be released.

HOW DOES "PAY FORWARD IN RECIPROCITY” WORK?

ME

Paying forward Lwa to "me" goes towards gifts and tools that contribute to your growth at times when you may not be able to afford them (time poor or dollar poor). This changes the myth that everything in life should come before you and enables you to know the importance of filling your cup and in turn overflow your abundance into the world.

Why.... Because each of us are worthy of nurturing and self-love.

COMMUNITY

Paying forward Lwa to community for gifts and tools that contribute to honour others in their own personal journeys when they find difficulty or inability to enable themselves. This can be for classes, for medicine tools or for gifts. You can choose to send this direct to someone you know, or give anonymously to Lwa to community where all monies at the end of the month create "free Lwa tickets" to those who would not otherwise be able to attend CIRCLES.

CAUSE

Paying forward Lwa to a cause. It’s beautiful to extend to causes of the world collectively. The monies that you choose to pay forward in contribution go to "Lwa to a cause" which help local or global causes that share our values. Total donations will be celebrated publicly on our website each month.

Feel free to suggest charities/causes you know and love so we can do our part in helping the world together.

HOW MUCH DO I NEED TO "PAY FORWARD IN RECIPROCITY?"

Your contributions are completely of your free will and choice. All you will need to begin Lwa circle is $40 for your own ticket to attend each monthly circle (single payments or subscribe monthly).

Add your "pay forward $$" to this $40 amount from as little as $5.00 and let us know where you would like your contribution to land (eg "pay it forward to me, community, or cause"). All contributions are made through heart.earth.drum website or voucher books you can also purchase. I look forward to sharing Lwa with you in this nurtured and reciprocated space.

Here's where you may like to begin....

*Donate $100 or more in a month and in exchange for your generosity, you will receive your next Lwa class half price.
